Heritage Chorale was founded in 1984 by a group of experienced choral singers residing in Oak Park who wanted an opportunity to sing in a community-based chamber choir. They enlisted the help of Robert Fuller, choir director of the Oak Park and River Forest High School, who, as founding director, provided the driving force and artistic vision that guided the choir through the first five seasons.

The purpose of the Chorale is to provide an opportunity for experienced choral singers to sing in a community-based chamber choir in the Oak Park-River Forest area and to perform choral masterworks by composers from around the world, including the local area, in many different styles, from many different periods of music, and from many cultures.
