Heritage Chorale Marcie Hartman Mentoring/Scholarship for 2022

Heritage Chorale announces the availability of its Marcie Hartman vocal scholarship for 2022. Eligibility extends to high school juniors and seniors who reside, or attend high school, in Oak Park, River Forest, or Forest Park, or who sing in a youth choir in one of these Villages.

The student selected will sing with Heritage Chorale and then receive an award of $1,000 for vocal arts study. Applicants must be in good academic standing and be recommended by their high school or youth choral director, voice teacher, or other professional musician familiar with their singing ability. Finalists will audition for Heritage Chorale’s Artistic Director

Applicants must commit to sing with Heritage Chorale in its spring semester beginning on January 10, 2022 and ending with concert performances on April 2 and 3, 2022. As with all Heritage Chorale singers, vaccination is mandatory. Regular rehearsals are held on Monday evenings in River Forest. Two regular rehearsal absences are permitted. Dress rehearsals on the Monday and Friday evenings preceding the performances are mandatory.

Eligible applicants will be assessed on the basis of singing experience, ability and quality, based on information included in the application, the recommendation submitted with the application and finalist auditions. Consideration will also be given to Heritage Chorale’s voice part needs.

Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2021. Auditions will be individually scheduled with finalists in December 2021 or January 2022. Final selection will be made before the beginning of Heritage Chorale’s spring semester in January 2022.

The scholarship award will be made after the candidate’s successful completion of the spring semester with Heritage Chorale in April 2022.

The scholarship payment will be made to the student’s selected college, music school, voice teacher, or other institution or individual providing assurance satisfactory to Heritage Chorale that the award will be used for music study in the vocal arts.
